My rock shrimp seems to be unwell, Usually I find him attached to some plant a rock or some coral, but last night I found him on his side at the bottom of the tank!? I put the net in to check he was still alive, and he clung to it rather than dart out the way as usual?! He seems very lathargic, and unable to stay on his feet?! he has no visible signs of attack!? not that there is anything in the tank that has ever attacked him.

Are there any diseases that effect rock shrimp in this way or does any one have any advice, i've had him for about 6 weeks, and he's been fine untill now?! Is this something to do with shedding, as he has yet to shed?

Only thing I will say is from descriptions and photos I have seen of Rock Shrimp mine is VERY RED!?!?!

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Simon

have you been feeding him directly? they can starve uite easily.

have you put any copper meds in his water? any new plants or anything like that?

Shrimp lying on their side is generally a sign of poisoning, often copper. Has anything been added to the tank recently?

I would do a large water change, unfortunately there isn't much else you can do.

I had this happen with a wood shrimp once and i think it starved

the thing is, they don't feed off the floor even when they're starving.
