Please help.
My coldwater tank has recently suffered a few deaths.
Three goldfish have died, symptoms include lifting scales, sore, red and furry gills.
Fur on the fins and a general listness in the water.
Now our orb with a small discus, who has been doing fab, is showing similar sings, or rather the discus has a small white mark on the anal(?) fin.
any ideas.
By the way, the only thing to pass between the two tanks could be a net.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type in the tank.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
Bacterial infections and they are mounting up.
Once scales stick out dropsy and it the last stage of the desease organ failure.

About 40 litres, corner tank, 4 golfish, ranging from2-4 inches, one weather loach.
All water stats are fine, levels spot on, buggered if I know what's going on.
Weather loach is fine????

That tank is way to small and I can't see your stats being fine as goldifsh are massive waste producers.
First goldfish alone needs a 20gal, and 10gal for every other one added.
I would urgently suggest

a new tank as them fish are going to die of ammnia poisoning.
Your sick goldfish have a bacterial infection.

Why cant you see the ammonia being fine, thats rather harsh to say that they are ammonia poisoning the fish! We have goldfish and theire levels are always perfect!

To be honest I can't see the STAT's being fine when he has 4 goldfish in a 8 gal' tank.

but if they measured them and they are fine then they are fine surely (dont mean to sound rude!!)

maybe they meant 40 gallons?

Ok, depends on water test kits he's using as tetra test strip card things are not that accurate.

This is his information.

Using dropper type test kit.
all tanks doing perfect on the ammonia, nitrates and nitrires!!
Angels now in with the oscar;red shark on his own in octagonal;discus in the bio-tube; all goldfish in the corner tank have died.
going to do a re-set of the tank.
bugger

To keep goldfish you need large tanks as they grow big and are also massive waste producers.
R.I.P.

discus and orb in the same sentance.......cant be good lol.

have to agree with wolf too, i have 6 goldfish in a 55 gallon and i have to keep an eye on that so an 8 gallon tank would struggle to cope unless you were doing very regular water changes.

angels and an oscar in a tank together...doesn't sound like a happy combination
