Hi,
I have come home tonight to find that one of my female Corydoras has what looks like a sack of eggs attached to her underside. Does anyone know what has happened to her or if there's anything I can do to help her?
Yous hopefully
Lisa......

Hi jordanl

I'm sorry to hear that something is wrong with your cory. One thing I can tell you for sure is that it is not eggs.

What kind of cory is it? How big is your tank and what other fish are in it? What are the water parameters and temperature? (parameters are ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings) Does this thing on your cory look like a patch of white, perhaps fuzzy stuff? When was the last time you did a good water change and bottom vacuuming?

If you can give me more information, I'll try to help.

Hi there,
Thanks for your reply.
She is a peppered cory. The tank is only about 70 litres and she is in with 4 more peppered cory's, 5 tetras, 2 Harlequins and a sucking loach.
The tank is at 24/25 degrees, with mainly sand on the base and lots of plants.
The tank is cleaned every 2 weeks with about a 15% water change.

I have checked her this morning to find that the clump of eggs (which is what it looks like) is now lying on the bottom of the tank and she is hiding away. Unfortunately her underside is now very red (looks like a cut right down the middle). She seems happy enough though.
It looks like she was ready to start spawning but all the eggs came out at the same time in one big clump :-(

I would like to treat the water with something to try and prevent her getting infected, but I'm not sure what. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Lisa
