Poor fish...

One of my prettiest bettas is a deep blue female I got from Wal mart.She has a sort of spade shaped tail.Just yesterday at feeding time I noticed that both her eyes were badly swollen and seem clouded over.She's not eating either.I put her in a small container with Bettamax....really hoping it would help.But today there is what looks like a white growth on top of the head and between the eyes.This is the only fish that shows any sign of illness and she has always been alone in her home.I don't know what might have caused this.It just looks horribly uncomfortable

I don't think she will get better and I can hardly stand to see her looking so miserable

hi there, it sounds like she's suffering from a case of popeye

it's not usually lethal (i just ahd a fish recover from it), to treat it, at first i did almsot daily water changes wtih melafix and salt, it didnt' get worse but it didtn' get better either.

So thinking that i might need another type of med, i went out and got mysel fsom tetracycline, and it erally works! I used the dosage and added salt with extar water cahnges and he was looking better in a few days and got fully recovered about 2 weeks later

Thanks...I'm doing the water changes and salt.I was really hoping the Betta max would help but I may have to look for something else.I just wish I knew what was causing it.The fish is a fairly new addition but I have two others bought at the same time and they are all fine....so far.I read up on pop eye as soon as I spotted it,and it sounds like any number of things could be the problem
