pool filter sand

this might seem like a silly quesation but where do you get it from?

Pool supply shops or places that carry pool supplies. I haven't seen any at Wal-Mart though they carry pool supplies. I got a 50 pound bag for $10 at a local supply store.

You can find it at any pool supply store. Its cheap and looks nice.

Can this stuff work in my FW tank? I've been looking for sand for a long time and all I can find at LFS are sand made of Coral.. and thats a no no

Yep, it's what I use in my freshwater. It's totally inert so it doesn't alter the pH or anything else.

Also other options are play sand. And I all purpose/blasting sand from home depot.

Yes but it's generally lighter and not meant to go into water like Pool Filter sand.

I've used nothing but Pool Filter Sand for 15+ years. It has a more even grain size/shape and doesn't pack down as much as say Silver Sand which I used before. You still need to prod it about to keep it open, but nothing like the same amount as other sands I have tried.
