stringy poo on livebearers, what does this mean?

and what are the symptoms if a guppy is within a few days of dropping fry?

Long stringy white poo can mean a few things internal parasites or bacteria infection, and constipation what do you feed your fish.

This COULD mean internal parasites or something similar..... Are there any other unusual symptoms...black insides? Don't confuse this with the gravid spot though on females - see below.

If a Guppy is about to 'pop' a gravid spot will appear next to her stomach. This looks like a fairly large black dot and is the eyes of the fry...although some have been known to hang on a while even after this appears! I'll try and take a picture of one of my heavily pregnant females so you can see what I mean...if no one gets there first!! They will also, obviously, be larger than normal in the stomach area!!

Sorry wilder....didn't see your post before posting! Didn't mean to step on toes....at least we're thinking the same things!! I was obviosuly typing as you were posting!

i feed my fish tropical flake once a day. Its not white and all of my females have gravid spots so im guessing they dont have internal parasites but are pregnant.

Do you suggest variating the diet every now and then? if so with what?

I'm not bothered were all here to answer questions if we can,, internal parasites indications are also red inflamed anus, worms prutruding from the anus, being skinny or bloated, and livebearers are very prone to them epescially guppys.

To many dry foods can cause swimbladder problems and constipation, they need a varied diet of frozen foods and veg, and female guppys are going to need a very good diet to have the strength to keep giving birth.

okey dokey- ive already tried lil bits of carrot although none of them seemed to be interested in that? I will go and get some frozen food tomorrow then. Sorry if I'm being annoying now but what are popular veg with livebearers? you suggest just trying loadsa different ones and see what they like?

Thanks for your help :D

Frozen foods like daphnia, bloodworms, brimestrimp, even prawn they love that, broc, cabbage, sproats, peas are very good, lettuce, cucumba, even some fruits.

Mine love cucumber...but I try a whole variety of stuff. It's easier if you can secure it somehow though so it's not floating around everywhere.
