In march we are going to start a pond in our back garden. I have no idea what its going to be like. We just know the man up the road from us is gonna help and he has 3 ponds, hes gonna gives us the plants and fish for it.

My questions are,

1- Whats a good size for a pond? Its only going to be for a few goldfish.
2- Are preformed ones any good?
any other points that you may have please, give them. Also i want to research so does anyone have any good links?

Thanks

sean

Hi,

It's hard to say what a good sized pond is. Try to aim for a pond with atleast
100 gallons to start with.
Preformed ponds may look good but have the disadvantage of not being able to
put them to your exact requirements.

Depends on how many fiah you want. If you go for a small pond then you will want another bigger one, i know i do and my pond is around 800 ish gallons. I have 6 fish in it and plan on maybe two or three more in the spring, but I dont want to overstock it.

I found preformed arent deep enough for winter so ours is 4 foot in the centre, and used a liner.
