Which one is best?

I have found

Butyl 0.75mm, or Firestone rubber 1mm. Both about the same price.

Because Butl is thinner it is more flexable and easier to put into place, so if your pond is of an unusual shape/design this is the better liner to go for, but if your pond is just a standard sort of shape like rectangle or square shape then the firestone one is probably better.

I personally used the Butl liner in the making of my pond because the shape of my pond is very unusual (its two large round ponds with a curving channel connecting them, so the pond shape kinda looks like a dumbell) and its a large pond too, so having a thinner liner was better for my pond in many respects, pond liner is actually very heavy stuff so having a lighter liner also helped in putting it into place  .

Make sure you get some underlay fabric though first before you put the liner in, this felt-like fabric will help protect the rubber liner from stretching and puncture by things like rocks and tree roots etc  .

Mines a 4x2m rectangle brick wall 60cm tall. Then theres a rectangle dug into the ground 2x1.7m sloping down to 1.6m at one end. Im thinking the firestone as the ground is quite rocky etc...as its 1mm, but I will be putting down carpet, then an underlay first.

With that underlay, does anyone do it in say, 8x8m, or is is all 2m wide then sold by the metre?

thanks.

Mark

Frestone Liner is commonly sold in 3 sizes, 3.7m wide, 4.8m wide and 6m wide and then it is so much per running metre

Edit. oh if you mean the underlay then yes it is sold 2m wide by however long is required.
