Hi, all. I'm planning to switch over my 125 gallon tank to SW and really want a Flame angel, but I'm scared that if I get corals and what not someday he/she'll rip them apart. :shout:  And I really don't want to have to dismantle the tank to get it out again

Thanks in advance for your participation!!

 :fun: :hyper:

I work at a fish store, with a 600 gallon display reef tank, with a few angels, the two that come to mind are the Flame and the Japanese Swallowtail, neither or which nip at the corals in the display tank.

With Flame Angels you have to keep them well fed, and most of the time its about a 1 in 75 chance that one will nip coral, so if you do get one make sure you keep it well fed and just keep an eye on it.

And I would definately add the Angel last to keep down the aggression. And possibly add corals before you add the Flame just so its familiar to him in your tank you know.

Mine was OK for a while... Then the little bugger decided he liked my pocillipora and my open brain. 3 days of attempted trapping later I finally caught him. Never doing that again.

Aww darn. Really is hit and miss, huh! Well I have a hunch that I'll run FOWLR for long awhile until I get a really good feel for things and then add corals. So when it comes time to set up I may get one. When I add coral, I'll keep an eye on it and if need be, see about selling it to the LFS. I better check w/them first to make sure they'd take it.

But that way I could enjoy that beautiful creature for a little while.

A guy was quoted as saying that. The little guy hasn't touched any corals in the display. And all the maintenance we do we havent seen any have an appetite for coral. But take it with a grain of sand. I didn't say that anyone had to take the advice.
