What type of fish? What have you been doing to get them ready to breed?

they been split up an fed frozen food an some live food

Add the female first that way there will probably be less aggression from the male. If you add the male first he will challenge any fish of his type added to the tank after that. Also before you add them have you been conditioning them...feeding them lots of good live and frozen food for the past week or so?
