Heres what I'm doing for my new tank. The sump will be next to the tank as the stand isn't big enough inside for the 30G breeder.

The three pipes coming from the tank (right side) are already drilled. One overflow will feed the skimmer (return from skimmer will go into the fuge and a bubble trap between fuge/return section), second to a filter sock. The return will be t'd to go to the tank and the refuge. I put unions where I could though there are already some pipes glued (from previous owner) so I'm doing what I can so that if I move again, I can remove what I can and be able to move the tank.

Any quams, concerns? This is why I'm posting. Thanks

Get a true union check valve, it will need cleaning eventually. And use true union ball valves up by the bulkheads in the tank in case you ever need to move/service it

Ya, on the same wavelength as you ski... the ball valves up by the tank bulkheads are already attached.... for right now, gonna use the small portion of plumbing the previous owner used, which included the three ball valves, I agree they should be true unions, but for now, they will work.... and yes, I was planning on a ture union check valve, just didnt draw it in. Thanks

To add, basically where the unions are from the two overflows and return is where the old plumbing ends, I could cut it all the way back and just unions in, might be a good idea just to do that now so I dont have any issues later
