Plexiglass Light Sheild

The glass that the light sits on on my tank is broke. Can I replace it with plexiglass? It is a halogen light and I want to get bulbs to grow plants for it.

A halogen will likely overheat the acrylic and cause it to bow or sag. Better off with glass
