It's ok to get plexi glass cut someplace and use it as a hood and put a strip light over it right?

Plexiglass will bow and warp, unless you get the real thick stuff, which is expensive. Get the cheap light diffuser panels sold at Home Depot & such for a few bucks a sheet.
