Hi,

I am looking for a bit of info or help. I have 3 tanks and now doing away with one, I have a 48in x 18in x 12in tank which already has a plec in it. Would it be ok to put another plec in beside it from the tank I am doing away with or will they fight with each other. The plec in 4ft tank is about 10in in size and the other is about 7in.

Many Thanks.

10inches???? I may have my calculations wrong but the is huge for a plec....do you mean 10cm? I have two plecs in my 3ft and they seem to keep to themselves. Initally when i added the second boy there was a bit of chasey chase but they settled down after a while. Just give them their own hiding spots and they should be ok if the tanks big enough.

Common plecs can easily reach 24". You can put 2 in the same tank without issues although they can become more aggressive toward their on kind as they age but both of them are probably going to eventually outgrow the tank. That's not standard tank size. Closest I could find is a 40 long which is 48Lx12Wx16H. If the tank is only 12" wide, the longest one is already almost too long to be able to turn around without problems.

The tank is 48L x 12W x 18H. 10in was an estimate, just had fun trying to measure him. It is a good 8 to 9in in length and is happy in the tank, just didn't want to add the other as I thought they might fight at night when light is off and I am not their to watch them. Didn't know if they were Territorial or not.

Well thats my tank empty only the Plec left in it. So is it Yes or No to put it in with another Plec. As I said I am just worried they might fight as never had 2 in one tank before..
