Hi all,

After having my common plec i saw how he liked to hide under/in/between things and the he loved a tube to go in, but this was sometimes a bit :/ cos i loved to watch him... After browsing the net i was reading about Black Ghost Knifes and that if you put a clear glass tube in they will hide in it and feel secure . So the fish feels secure and you get to see him/her when you want, both winners :kana:

Would plecs or corys be the same or would they just ignor that?

Plecs like to hide in things like caves because they are nocturnal in nature and being in the constant glare of the tank lights for the most part of the day stresses them out, so i don't think a glass tube would really work for your plec unless you never had the tank lights off 24/7 im afraid.

My Common Pleco "hides" behind some Mopani wood. Only part of his head is hidden but it seems to make him happy! :)

I 'think' the reason the clear glass tube works with the BGK is because they can't actually 'see' anyway! So they just sense that they are in a tube and presume that it is solid and they can't be seen !! ;)

Because Plecs can actually see, then it wouldn't work !!! ;)

Try fitting a moonlight set-up to your tank, which will allow you to view your nocturnal fishes :D

My BN Plecs are very active during the day.... maybe worth considering if you enjoy watching them in daylight etc !
