Hi everyone, Just wanted to ask some questions about my plecostomus. I have 2 in my 75 gal. tank, but I was wondering, are they really nessessary? To be honest I hardly ever see algae grow in my tank anymore, maybe some brown algae here n there, but i just brush it off. All they seem to do is non-stop eat, is that normal? I dont know TOO much about them, just know they are algae eaters. they are each about 6 inches long, and just seem to eat ALL the time, I mean of course it seems normal, but they are swimming everywhere in search of food, even AFTER i feed them Algae waffers. What if i gave my plecostomus away and switched to shrimp? I recently tossed in 2 snails. I jsut feel like the plecostomus are taking up a lot of space, swimming aggressivly passed the other fish and pushing them away just so they can stay placed in a certain area.

Have you got a picture of them so we can ID them?
To be honest, if they are giving you no pleasure, then you are best rehoming them.

Sure, heres one of my plecs, not too good quality, took it on my phone camera :p

i would get rid of one and if the algea returns put a small one in because as the big one gets bigger it won't be able to get the algea in the smaller spots. also, as my pleco got bigger he started eating tubifex worms and it's actually pretty fun to watch him eat them.
