Hi everyone. bought a gold nugget plec yesterday (already got a ringlet plec in the tank) all seemed fine for a few hours until my ringlet plec decided to have a go at the gold nugget. is the ringlet being teritorial ? if so what is the best plan of action ? been keeping fish for years, but i am pretty new to pleco's. any advice would be appreciated.

If it doesn't settle down, re-arrange the tank layout... then the 2 will sort out their own territories. At the mo the first will regards the whole tank as his ;)

ok thanks for that. i will certainly try moving the tank furniture around. the research i found out on the gold nugget is that they can grow up to 8" just wondering if that is correct.

For some of them yes, others sp. of GN can grow over 12 inches.

They will grow very slowly in aquaria though

ok. i guess they only grow to their surroundings anyway. my two clown loaches are probably 4 maybe 5 years old and they have hardly grown very big so im guessing its the same for them too.

I got given a pink live pink clam for my tank. does anyone know much about them. it looks pretty cool when the lights come on.

eek... have a search for stunting..

I've seen deformed fish due to thinking they will be ok in a small tank - unfortunately they wont be.

Clown loaches, I believe, are different - they emit a hormone that limits growth - so in the limited space of a small tank this builds up and stops them growing - regular water changes should see them growing though??

yes. i do a water change 30% every two weeks. is that enough or should it be more ?
