hi all am thinking of getting a pleco in our 103 ltr tank with four tiger barbs, 1 dwarf gourami and two balloon mollies, anyone have any suggestions on the pleco? also considering a red tail shark, will this work with the tank size and are the fish compatible?

any advice appreciated, thanks

A popular Pleco is the Bristlenose as they are quite hardy and only grow up to 6". One of these will be fine in your tank.

As already mentioned, a BN should be fine.
You may want to look at the pinned topic "30 plecos under 8 inches" - and particularly look at the species that reach up to a max of 5 or 6 inches.

Incidentally, changing the subject slightly - how do your tigers get on with the dwarf gourami?
I saw some beauties in my local LFS yesterday but wasn't sure if the barbs would be prone to the occasional nip.
Have you ever had any problems with this?

chinese algea eater's are very aggressive when they hit the 5" mark

and have been known to kill other fish

and they can get upto 10"

hi fish fanatic,
the TBs were quite nippy towards <gilly>gourami for first few days but seemed to have settled down
recently but wil b getting a few more TBs to c if that helps there aggression further
let me know how they go if you get 1
thanks gillyg

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a pair of dwarf gourami and also added 3 more TBs to my shoal.
Bloke at my LFS (who I trust) said he thought they'd be quite nippy at first but settle down.
First two days, I thought I'd made a huge mistake - dwarfs were being harrassed big time.
But then, as if by magic, everything was fine on the third day (yesterday) and the dwarfs are now free swimming in the tank without diving for cover every five minutes!

PS: have you decided on a pleco yet?
