Its a Gibbiceps Plec (Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps) they can reach 18" in captivity although they sometimes stay smaller about 12-16".

I gotta read up on those then, might need a bigger tank. :( Thank you .

Do they grow fast?
Are they veggies?
They are a Plec that prefers a more vegetable based diet. I feed mine on Algae Wafers and Bloodworm mainly with some cucumber. Mine reached 10" in 4 months. :)

that big???

i was talking about plecos the other day and someone DID say mine was too small- looks JUST like mine.....but mine has been around for 5 years and is at the most, 5 inches. is this bad?

:S

if the tanks small it might be stunting its growth.

how can u tell if stunting has negatively affected the fish? Mine swims normally, eats wheneve I feed him, and looks REALLY good....! ?

yea, so i hear. but how could i tell? he looks just fine.... if this is the case, i think you'd be fine with a 20-25 gallon tank, Cat.

Mine eats veggie tabs and lettuce, sometimes cucumber

My sailfin pleco has been relatively slow growing but all my plecos adore meaty food. At lights out they are waiting for a bit of cockle, prawn, and mussel. They all also love `Sera catfish chips` but are not overly keen on normal algae wafers.
Try your plecos on meaty food, i know everyone says they won`t like it but mine really love it and apparently it is good for them too.

I have 2 of these guys. 1 of them is 3" and I have had him for 8 months, the other one hasn't grown much at all.
Mine are called hide and seek as that is what i used to have to play to find them both when the lights were on, this is no longer the case.
I think squishy is a good name for a pleco though.

Listen to Clare, she knows what she's talking about.

All my plecs, big & small love their bloodworm and thrive on it.

Thanks Sir Minion! Mine also love whitebait. We had 2 plecos which were growing too big so we seperated them. The one which we moved went into a tank where they were fed meaty foods and she has doubled in size in 2 months. She takes whitebait and picks them up, takes them to here hiding cave and eats them there!!

Sir Minion, how is your chaca now? I saw a post by Lady Minion asking advice and we now have a tire track eel with a growth on his tail. It`s bright red and looks like a large ulcer but is large. Have treat him with Paragon but doesn`t seem to of helped. Had to move him before we could treat him because he was in with an elephant nose.
