Hey guys, ive just setup a high light planted tank (5x2x2) which will be a south american fish/plant tank. Plecs, Tetras, a pair of Apistogramma and mabie... 6 Discus.

These are the plecs that I really like

L128 Blue phantom
L134 Leopard frog
L183 Starlight Ancistrus
L200 Green phantom
L239 Blue panaque
L260 Queen arabesque

Im think ill prolly end up with 4 out of the 6 stated above.
So questions are...

Will these plecs get along together?
Will they be ok in the high light?-there will be shaded areas, places to hide
Does any of them eat plants?

If anyone has suggestions on different plecs pleese say, also if anyone has found any of the above species to be difficult let me know.

Also ppl if you have any of these fish pleese show them off and post a pic Id love to see

Cheers Dave

As long as there are plenty of caves, bogwood and hiding places then you'll have no problem keeping any of them together.
We have an L128, L134, and an L200 with 6 other Plecos in our 137G tank and they are fine. :good:

they should be just fine :)

Plants should be safe to :)

I could help you out on the starlight BN's :)

Thanks for sharing Stang1, what lovely plecs you have. That must a fantastic tank :good:

Love that L200-

Thanks for the kind comments.
Blue - There's actually 10 Plecos (not 9) in the 137G tank...
The male Bristlenose is kept in my 48G planted community tank. We've had this tank set up for about 3 months now and there has never been any signs of aggression, they all seem to find their own "homes" in the tank and don't bother with each other. Feeding time is great though, it's not unusual to see at least 4-5 of them sitting alongside each other munching on their wafers!

i have heard that they may eat the discus slime of the discus, i am getting a pair of discus myslef and i was putting a leopard frog pleco, king tiger (king gypsy, whatever you call it) and a candy striped pleco. i have a question, will these guys uproot my plants and eat them because i keep trying to tell my dad they wont but just want to make sure, and also that they wont eat slime of discus. lovely fish Stang1 :good:

I think the species you've picked will be less likely to eat your plants, as they're meat eaters, but all plecs are clumsy as with their armoured bodies, they cant move about as freely as other fish - so they will knock into things. And may still nibble a bit on your plants.

Basically - you've picked the right species to lower the chances, but you wont know til you try it ;)
