Iv got this pleco in a tank that might have to become brackish for my new puffer. He isn't a common plec, but a closely related species (somthing i recall ruleing out awhile ago), i just cant recall what exactly the scientific name was. Anyway, what would be the possibility of acclimateing this kind of pleco to a somwhat salty environment?

Dont ever add salt to a tank. I added salt to my tank and i ost my 2 plecos and 2 angel fish. Jsut add salt if there is any fish infected with a disease.

They can cope with tiny ammount of salt in the water - but only short term (as in a few days to a week max). Definitely not suitable for a brackish tank, I'm afraid.

There aren't any brackish/salt water plecos as far as i am aware, i would advise pm'ing nmonks if i were you, he should know more than i do on brackish fishkeeping. You should ID what type of pleco you have, too many people end up not looking after their plecos properly through lack of knowledge on them.
