Pleco- What kind is it

The guy was showing me them in the shop, I was pretty certain that it was a bristlenose, and I can remember hearing that bristlenose's don't get much bigger than 20cm, in fact they rarely do. Hopefully wherever i got that from the person had it right. He/she has little white whiskers on it's lip. it is a black coloured pleco, with whiteish browny coloured spots over it. On the information thing it said that it was a south american pleco. Not sure please help. Don't worry, I have very powerful filtration, it has sucked 10 neons in if you don't believe me!!

sounds like a standard bristle nose, 5-6inches max
