im relatively new to fish keeping and have some questions abt tank sizes. I have a common pleco in a 10 gallon tank I think (no it was not me who decided that was a good idea) and he desperately needs to be moved. He’s about 10 inches now what size tank should I put him in? I might temporarily put him in a 55 gallon for now but I really want to get a nice planted setup with some other big fish as well like an Oscar or blood red parrot cichlid. What size tank would be best for that?

Common plecos (Hypostomus plecostomus) can reach 2 foot in length and regularly reach 18 inches long. The minimum size tank for them is 6 foot long x 2 foot wide x 18 inches high.

Oscar cichlids can reach 18 inches long but most only get to 10-12 inches long. The minimum size tank for 1 adult Oscar cichlid is 4ft long x 2 ft wide x 2 ft high and bigger is better.

Red parrot cichlids can reach 8-10 inches long and a 4x2x2ft tank is minimum for them too.
