I posted a couple of weeks ago asking if plecos ate anything besides algae. Mine does.

As soon as I start putting fish food in the tank, it comes out of its favorite log and begins rooting around. When I did a PWC and cleaned gravel, it was not bad at all. The 10g was the worst as none of the neons clean the bottom of it. The pleco is doing a decent job and cleaning up loose food, so I am going to hold off getting any corys for the 55g right now.

I throw in an algae pellet each night, sometimes a shrimp pellet, and every week some peas or squash. The plec is doing well keeping down algae too. Too bad they have to get so big. -_-

mine loves spirulina cichlid sticks.. he traps against the glass at the top and rasps away! By the same token, the Oscar (that the spirulina are meant for), loves to eat the sinking algae wafers (that i mean for the pleco):dunno:
I try cucumber as a treat every so often but before the pleco takes any interest in it, the bala sharks have ate it all. funny ol world!

Yes! I saw my pleco do that the other night for some small pellet food I was feeding. I didn't know what it was doing at first, but as I watched I saw that food got pushed against the front glass of the tank and the pleco was bobbing up and down eating it. Cool fish. Some people think they are ugly, but to me they are kinda cute.
