why do some people spell pleco like this, pl*co???

im not totally sure on this...but i believe its something to do with bad luck or something? i dont know for sure!

Yes, it's about bad luck. Someone thought their plec had died because they were typing about it so now many say pl*c, on planet catfish it is done automatically be the filter.

Someone's plec died when he spelled it with an "e" so he started using the asterisk.

Here I thought it was because some people think that pleco is a dirty word, because they hate the fish or regard them as a necessary evil or something.
