I've had a 3" Pleco in my tank for the last two months.

Lately my convicts have been picking on him. His favorite cave was right in their territory and they used to harass him when they were out strolling around with their fry in tow.

Then there was the INSANE amount of poop in the tank. All from him. Everytime the cons would come over to him he would take off in a big swoosh and poop would float everywhere. It was pretty unsightly to see a pile of poop all over my driftwood. I used to try to vaccum every other dayt. Also, he had a habit of uprooting my plants as he tried to wiggle through them.

So he wasn't working out for me. I returned him 2 days ago. While i was there, they had a couple 1" plecos for $1.09. I was tempted but then i remembered 1" plecs become 3" plecs! :D

Anyway, the last two days i guess a lot of him poop broke down and the tank is just so much cleaner already. Also no more of my stem plants being uprooted. I'm tempted to go out and get one more otto since i like those guys and the pleco was the main algae eater in the tank (as shown by the massive amounts of poop)

Plecos are nice, but they just didn't work for me that's all.

Funny how everybody says their plecs crap like mad, but mine doesn't seem to. Do rubbernose (bulldog) plecs or the smaller varieties not poop so much?

Hope you have better pleco luck, Mustang5L5
