Help!!

I'm in the middle of cleaning my tank when my Rusty Pleco swam into the syphon. He either can't or doesn't want to come out. I have tried blowing down one end but with no effect. Have now taken off the tube part in the hopes that he'll get himself out. Is there something I should do?

Hurray, he just swam through the other side. Big sigh of relief.

Wow!

Sorry you did not get a fast reply as you were hoping for.
But alls well that ends well.

Am glad he got out of the syphon though I bet you have learned a lesson here.

When I do syphoning, I always keep a thumb over the end of the hose where the tank water comes out of and into the bucket, this is so I can quickly stop the flow of suction awith my thumb over the end of the hose and thus enabling any fish or shrimps to swim out of the syphon easily.

As for my python hose for taking out large quantity of water, I put a piece of sponge over the end of the syphon hose thats in the tank water itself, this stops any shrimps and fish from entering the hose in the first place.

There are other ways but this works for me.
