I'm planning to set up a fluval duo deep 600 aquarium but want it ultimately designed around my favourite fish, the pleco.

I'm still kinda new at this and have no idea how to design the tank to create a pleco heaven. The dimensions i think are 600 X 350 X 400mm(?). the water is sitting nicely at 24 degrees and roughly pH 6.

I'm looking for ideas on what plants, and accessories (rock, wood) to get and some sort of design of where to place what.

And also what type of pleco to get.

I'm not even bothered if they're the only fish in my tank, I've heard they can get quite big.

Any advice or help would be great thank you.

it all depends on the pleco you chooese... any ideas yet?

A 600 tank is no where near big enough for the medium+ sized plecs (eg 6" upwards)

If I were you I would have a good look through planet canfish and see what takes your fancy.

Any of the species that get to about 4" would be ok in a 2ft tank as long as the filtration is good.

we have a number of 4" plecs all have great personalities :)

our favorite would have to be Buffy

She is a 'Leopard Frog' Plec (or L134 - one of the Peckoltia family)
2 of these would be ok with a few mid swimmers to add movement.

the other small plecs we have are in a tank just for them :)

We have 5 Columbian Zebras (L129) in a 120L.
Kitted out just for them - Fine sand - Slate (forming caves) and some tubes. Drift wood and what is now, quite a lot of plants...

In the tank with them we have 5 rummynose tetras, 2 cherry barbs, 4 pigmy corys and a panda cory.

Lovely L200 G_Sharky.

They have fully grown L128s (same colouration but blue) at my work, I am REALLY tempted, but i dont want to overcrowd my tanks with too many plecs lol.

Wow. Thank you.

Your advice and the pics of your tanks help alot. I'm now off to search for my dream plec. Didn't realise how big they got so i'll keep that in mind when searching.

I'm a studying geologist so have plenty of slate laying around. I'll give it a good clean and see what i can come up with.

Thank you again.
