thanks

what are you looking for?

colour?
adult size?

how are you organising the tank?

looking from my point of view now - I'd look for a nice sized 'mature' plec - probubly a 6" LDA33 (big white spot)

Most 'pretty' plecs grow slowly and it'll be years (7/8) before one of the small plecs you see in most stores look their best.

there are SOOO many different plecs to chose from though - it really is down to taste and what you can find ;)

have a look through the cat-e-log on www.planetcatfish.com - you can see thumbnails for most and it'll give you the information you need on care.

not good news I'm affraid - most plecs are infact nocternal and come out mostly at night.

you can have plecs 'get used to you' so that they dont feel threatened coming out during the day but it takes time.

you'll find braves plecss live in tanks with people passing them a lot so they get used to us.

most of ours hide however the ones in the kitchen tank and my office tank are a lot braver ;)

Can you explain how?

also the plec must be able to be kept with:
a pair of angels
a pair of rams
20 neons

do you think i could also get some loaches
ex zebra loach

that mix sounds fine (angels will eat the neons when they get bigger though - they are natural food)

you just need to spen a lot of time in front of the tank - if its in the living room then thry should be fine - its if they only see movement outside the tank a few times a day that they will stay shy ;)
