My mom's "refugee" pleco is feeling much more at home in its new tank. It didn't even flee when I reached a net in to catch a tetra that was trying to hide next to it. It will now swim, more like floating through the water, with the lights on, and clean decorations. Very cute with its dorsal fin up and its mermaid tail. I will have to just get it a bigger tank when it outgrows this one.

I haven't had other fish in the tank, but now that the tetras are in there, food is getting on the bottom. I was going to add a couple of corys to do clean up (decaying food or waste from corys, it's a toss up). Then I noticed Pleco hovering over the bottom of the gravel. Was it eating the little granules of food??? :dunno:

If that is the case, do I really need corys? I didn't know if plecos scavenged any or just ate algae. This one will eat shrimp pellets, but really likes algae pellets and zuchini. Just wondering.

Pleco is well known algae eater altho they eat other food as well but mainly should feed algae flake I toss a little pleco to my plant tank in like 4 days now algae on the gravel had been clear and also those from the window. Also I dont find it cute they r very ugly instead but oh well just persional feeling. I bough them just for the algae. And they did their job.
