hey everyone!

it's been forever since i posted on here but here goes.

my ex recently invested in a 75 gallon tank into which he's going to relocate his eight inch common pleco. he couldn't find any info on how big to build a hiding spot for him though.

this pleco used to live with me so i know how it acts and such. the tank he lived in when he was with me, he would find a hiding spot and back out of it when he was ready to leave even though there were other ways out. just crazy i guess.

anyway, i just figured y'all would be the people who would know how big of a cave to make for him, and about how much room should be added to allow for enough comfortable growth before a new cave has to be made.

as big as you can really.

commons grow to 2 feet so i doubt youll be able to keep him hidden forever.

jus stick some tall plants at the back of your tank, mine jus hides behind them stuck to the glass.

its strange where they feel comfortable cos mines also seems to think hes hidden when hes laid next to a piece of bogwood i have.

probably thinks its another plec or something.

You should definately provide them with cover as they are mainly nocturnal fish and being in constant light throughout the day stresses them out. When you make the cave you should provide it with at least two entrances, make sure it has enough space inside for the plec to turn around in, and make sure the ceiling is at least as twice as high as its sailfin when up  .
