Pleco and plants

Will any plecos harm plants? I just recently brought home a pleco and put him in my tank with all my live plants. I was looking in the tank last night and noticed he was stuck on a plant and sucking away. I looked at the other leaves and noticed that there were holes in the leaves, maybe even rips. Could he have done this or not?

My plecs both sit on plants but as yet i haven't noticed any damage done by them. I don't see why they wouldn't eat leaves, they eat most other vegitation. Maybe i'm lucky and they don't like my particular plants (or they're too stuffed with other stuff )
