1. Ok I know this is probably a silly question, but the other day I put a canned sweet pea (unsalted of course) in the tank because I heard some fish like peas. My pleco.. (only about 2" long so far) grabbed onto it and "sucked" it until there was only the skin left on the pea. Is this OK for him? Can he have more, or are they bad for them?

2. I've heard that chinese algae eaters are aggressive, but mine (also about 2" or less) hangs around with my two cory cats like he thinks he's one of them or something. Is that normal, or do I just have a wierd fish? He does eat a lot of algae, but when he's not eating, he just kicks back with the cories. Aren't they (algae eaters) normally territorial? Also, I've heard plecos are territorial too. Are they, and will the pleco fight with the algae eater?

I have a 55 gallon tank with a lot of fake plants and rocks. Should I keep moving them to keep anyone from getting too territorial?

OK.. enough dumb questions for now...

My plecos also love peas, but you should peel them first for them. I keep a bag of frozen in the freezer and microwave them then after allowing them to cool, peel them and drop them in. Most of my fish love them, as well as cuccumber, lettuce.

As for the chinese alge eater, mine did not get agressive until he got big, and then I caught him sucking on one of my cories, he is no longer in any of my tanks, lfs he went. You have to keep an eye on it, as they can become agressive when they get larger.

yes, skin the peas. They are good for the digestive system for ALL fish. You can also feed the pl*co zuchini or cucumber (skin, seeds, and all). Just lightly boil them so they will sink.

Yes, CAEs when they get bigger will start latching on the bigger fish, in search of higher protein foods.

Is there some type of special food or anything I could put in the tank with higher protein that the algae eater would eat instead of latching onto other fish? Also, should I put in those algae wafers for plecos and such that they sell in the pet stores in the tank, or should they have enough to eat with just flake food and the algae in the tank? I do clean it off the front and sides of the tanks, but leave a little in the back or on the plants (plastic) because both the pleco and the algae eater "suck" on the glass quite a bit.
