My mum has just got a plec, looks like a common, but it has white tips in his fins, i've not seen this on commons, so i just wondered if any one knew what it might be, sorry ihvan't got any pics

Sounds nice!

Quite a few plecs have white tips (called flashes) on thier fins, but I've never seen it on commons. What else can you tell me about its appearence?
Colours?
any spots?
size?
spiny or plated?

Hi

Its plated, only small at the mo, probs about 1.5 '' the pattern is more a marbled kind rather than defined spots or stripes, it's very pretty, quite dark brown almost black- i'll try and get pics at the weekend and try uploading them.

Its a very nice fish and we only paid £5.50 so i was just wondering if we had got a bargain ( i bought it for my mum and dad, wish i'd kept it now!!) :/ !!

I'm thinking Bristlenose

L264's seem to be the plec of the moment :) :)

(our LFS's seem to always have them in :dunno: )

They are grey and dont fit the description at all.
