i have had the same tank for eight years and have had plecs init all the time, but for the last couple of months i can`t keep them alive :( :( all the other fish and plants are ok .any ideas?

you mey have better luck in catfish cradle. But I think placs are sensitive to Ph. Not an expert. Maybe Pm cat fish crazy

HiYa and welcome steveooooo :D

can you give us some more info on your tank...

1. Water parameters. (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, PH, temp', Hardness etc)
2. A full description of the fishes symptoms.
3. How often you do water changes and how much.
4. Any chemicals and treatments you add to the water.
5. WhatTank mates are in the tank.
6. Tank size, and how long set up.
7. Finally how experienced are you in keeping fish.

Most problems come down to a water quality issue..... -_-

:)

Two possibilities to consider. Do you have bogwood or such in the tank for them to browse off? If it's been there for some time it may be a source of some infection. Try replacing old wood.
2 how clean is the gravel? Plecs are most often on the base of the tank and can be more susceptible to gunge and rubbish lying there. A good going over with a gravel vac may help.

the water is fine and i have cleaned the gravel and thrown away the old bog wood (months ago when it started) but still same problem.
