Well my experience with plecs extends to a few bristlenoses... my largest tank is 22 gallons so that doesn't leave much choice when it comes to plecos. They all get too big to cram into that little glass box.

But I'm planning for a bigger tank and just looking around Aquabid for hot plecs... lol

Three beacon pleco - L91. Does anybody know how big it is and what the minimum tank length/volume is? All my sources disagree on that one. STUNNING plec though...

Also I have a bristlenose I bought as a baby. I think it's a calico but I bought it as a brown (paid all of $2). If I get a clear photo can anybody ID the strain? I'll put up a scan of this photo in a fish book too, it's captioned with a warning about how big plecs get. I think it's a hypancistrus. But I don't know.

They get to around 10 inches so i'd be looking at a tank size of around the 50G mark IMO

hi hun , the L91 roughly gets 2 about 9-10 iches or so IMO at least a 40 gallon 4 foot min tank would be needed as for the BN post a pic up and im sure some 1 will be able 2 id it for u :)

the calico b/n is a coloured varity of the common b/n they are also known as piebald b/ns

Thanks for the answers. If the BN ever comes out of hiding (it's found a nice little fish-sized hole in a piece of driftwood) I will get a photo of it.

I'm not sure if you'll find an L91 out there I'm affraid... It'll be easier to see what you can find on a more austrailian user based forum - there aren't that many that are allowed out there :(
