can the following plecs "inter-breed": L066, L260, L316?
thanks!

just a note: i am not planning to inter-breed them.
the reason i asked is that i actually do NOT want to inter-breed them.
i am planning to buy 2 or 3 of them but if they inter-breed, then i just have to get 1 - i can live with that.
:good:

They are all small Hypancistrus - so yes... they may well cross breed.

and i just found out that the zebras are part of the group as well.
i better keep out of the 3 then and just keep my aim on the zebra.

Sounds like you have set your sights quite high quite quickly...

PLEASE do a lot more reaserch before buying any zebras ;)

yes, i am continously doing my research even while at work :shifty:

One description of a species is a group that cannot interbreed with another group "a singular or plural term for a population or series of populations of organisms that are capable of interbreeding freely with each other but not with members of other species" (Source) (this is not the only description of a species and different scientists have different views). With this in mind I wonder if the plecs mentioned are in fact different species or just different variations of the same species?

In some cases when closely related species can interbreed the offspring are not able to reproduce.

Just some thoughts.
