Hi there

Could somebody please confirm if this indeed a Common Plec, using google so I might be wrong :)

fish.jpg

This is the first time I kept them, if you see this thread http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?s=&amp...t&p=2243618 here you will understand firstly why it is in a small tank in the picture and secondly why I didnt check before getting them.

(Since this picture, the 2xPlecs have been put on there own into my temp setup 4 foot tank until I finalise what I am doing with them)

Thanks in advance.

Looks like it has too many dorsal fin rays to be Hypostomus, and I'd have thought it some type of Pterygoplichthys.

Cheers, Neale

Thanks for the heads up, now I have looked it does indeed look more like what you suggested :)

Is there anything else that could help in the ID process? I am trying to work out how big the 2 I have will get and if I have enough room to house them, and if not re-home them.

Its a L001 (Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus)
should quickly get to around 12inches in size before slowing down its growth and stopping anywhere upto 18inches

Thanks a lot for that m8.

They are both around at the moment 6/7inches at a guess (at work so will need to check)

Its looking like I will be unable to keep them now I have rescued them, even in my new 5 foot tank it would be a struggle really. I might start to make some enquiries about finding them a new home, don't want any money for them I just want them to go to a good home.

They should be happy in the 4 foot tank while I sort it out :)
