Hey peeps. Why is it my plec seems a lot lighter in colouring than he was in his old tank? Do the camoflage themsleves so to speak ie lighter colouring in a lighter tank??
To a certain extent, yes, but very pale (or very dark) colouration can also be a syjptom of stress. He doesn't have much cover in that tank; a nice peice of wood or a cave for him to hide in would be good.
If you look on ebay can pick up coconut caves pretty cheap, some java moss tied to them looks good aswell (if you do purchase java moss i'd strongly recommend looking for a listing which has a photo of the moss your buying, and not a stock photo, ive brought the most horrible bitty moss this way half of which was dead and brown)
He was very dark before. Almost all black. Could sometimes hardly notice his markings. Now you can he's a medium grey colour with darker colour spots.
He is'nt in the tank i have a pic of, he's in another tank on his own. He has a ship wreck to hide in for now until he grows.
Thanks for your advice peeps.
