Hi All,

I have a 70 litre tank with 2 Clown Loaches , a Molly and a Plec that I have had for 2 years. (We have moved house in that time, but that was 10 months ago now).

A couple of weeks ago, the Molly died. She started swimming in a cork screw like motion and banging into everything in the tank. We made a make shift 'containment area' for her in the tank so that she wouldnt bash her self about (and so the loaches wouldnt keep hassling her) out of a plastic pint glass which we floated in the tank. Unfortunately, the next morning she was dead. :(

All the other fish in the tank (2 Loaches and the Plec) seemed absolutely fine. However since this happened we haven't seen the plec at all. This was weird because he's usually quite active and a little boistrous, especially during feeding time! They dont fight, it's just like he's King of the Tank and everyone knows it! :)

He has a little log that he likes to hide in, but he's been in there now for over two (nearly three) weeks! I got worried that he had got stuck, or had died in there or something, so I gently moved the log about (just rocking it gently from side to side). I could see him moving about and he even came to the opening on the side and poked an eye out to see what I was doing.

I know he's still alive, but I'm worried there might be something wrong with him, any thoughts?

Does he come out when being fed? What are you water stats? Do you know how big the tank is in US gallons? What kind of pleco is it, if you don't post a pic of him and I should be able to help you?

ouch, clowns will need to be upgraded to a 400litre tank at least

The vast majority of plecs out there will grow too big for a 70litre tank, most need at least 20-30gal tanks to live in, do you know what type of plec you have? Unfortunatly the clown loaches will get too big a for a 70litre tank, they can exceed 10inchs long and need at least a 60gallon tank.
Have you ever tested your water quality for ammonia, nitrates and nitrites?
