Haven't posted on here as not much has really changed with my tank up until a couple of weeks ago.

Had bought a hareem of Apisto Agassizii a few months back and all was well. The male chose a female and they even laid eggs (not fertilised but still) however after a while of them coupling off, my other 2 females died. I don't know if this was because they pair have bullied them,or they were just too small, either way I was left with just my two apisto's.

Have been looking for some Bolivian Rams to replace my German Blue's that I had before and have had no luck in keeping but they were either too small or too dull. Today however was a different story! Went to Maidenhead Aquatics in Shirley and picked up 3 Bolivians (1 male, 2 females) as well as 3 Leopard Oto's (needed something to actually eat the algae in my tank rather than just ignore it as my Bristlenose does). Spent a small fortune in there on 6 fish, but still! The Oto's seem to be settling in perfectly, nibbling away at anything they can find.

The Bolivians have started to colour up, but my male Apisto seems to not want them to be anywhere! He never ever goes on the one side of my tank, his territory is always around a large piece of bogwood I have, where he and his lady friend spend their days shooing off anyone who gets too close for comfort. However, the Bolivians for the moment have set up shop on the opposite side, yet he is dashing over there and telling them what for! Why is this? Is he just trying to show his dominance and will settle down? They are quite a bit larger than he is, but obviously being new, they are swimming away rather than defending themselves. I hope it calms down!

Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the new additions:

Beautiful leopard Oto.

2 of my Bolivians, the other is a little braver and is investigating.

And just my bristle nose who I thought I would include cus he makes me laugh whenever he backs up into this hole and plays dead haha.

Nice, the otto looks really nice, I think I may look into them when my new tank is cycled...
