i have a 25 gallon with 1 ryukin ,1 oranda and 6 lepoard danios . the tank is unheated and is filter by a powerfilter i feed flakes and blood worms , can i add an algae eater that wont suck the eyes out of my goldfish and survive in the unheated tank ?

i always like oto cats. they're small, efficient, hardy, and love algae.

Since the tank is unheated, it depends on how cold the house will get. Anything below the mid 70's F would be too cold for otos and a lot of common algae eaters. Hillsteram loaches, which are sold as everything from butterfly plec to stingray loach, are cold water algae eaters.

Goldfish themselves will batter the tank for any sign of organic matter - algae might not be a problem just with the two of them.

I would get some ramshorn snails. They won't hassle the fish and will live in cold or warm water.
You are unlikely to find a peaceful algae eating fish that tolerates cold.
