I got a snail boom in my fry tank, the fry in there at the moment are about 6 weeks old.

But realy want something that will eat the snails and not the fry. But the loach can be moved to the adult tank once it done it's job.

Need something that does'nt get to big iver.

Thanks guys

You could see if you could "borrow" a couple clown loaches. They should be fine with the fry (I think, please, someone correct me if I'm wrong) but they do get rather large. I have clowns in with some small guppies and they're all fine together. The only other loaches I know that eat snails and stay small wouldn't be good with fry (or any small fish for that matter). Sorry I couldn't be more help!

I reccomend hillstream loaches . I kept 2 in my 10g fry tank and all they ate was the algae on the wall. Very well behaved little fish and affordable but you must have a good filter with a good current and temp should be low(the colder the better) since they're found in high current, cold rivers hence why they have such a large sucker mouth so they can hang on to the bottom without being rushed away by the current.
Oh sorry i never read the snail part. These guys wont eat them, but i find if my filter gets enough algae on it, snails love to go clean it and UP they go. Every week i see 4-6 empty snail shells attached to my filters. It's a nice balance.

Firstly hillstream loaches are subtropical and
prefer cooler waters and a fast flow.

I'd recomend botia sidthimunki (dwarf loach)

Thanks Wolf

I off to my LFS tomorra to see what they got, will look for them. :)

I don't think hillstream loaches would eat snails....
Botia sidthimunki can be pretty expensive, as they just recvently came back into the hobby, but look around to find some cheap ones

Ya telling me, £15 for a little just over an inch fish.

needless to say I did'nt buy any. :(

May have to go with plan B, and get a very very small Clown, and rehome him when he gets to big.

OMG, they are only £4.95 each here.
I am always amazed at how some LFS's try and rip people off.
