100 Kilo's?

How big is your tank?

I would always go with sand. I started off with gravel and have progressed to sand.

My favourite is Limpopo sand by Unipac. Very easy to clean, a bit denser so it doesn't cloud the water when disturbed by Plecs etc and enhances the colouration of the fish :good:

The play sand is very good for the price, but i prefer proper aquarium, darker substrates if you can afford it. :)

Can i ask what the size of your tank is to need 100KG of sand? I used 25KG for my 4ft bow front.

Go for argos play sand its cheap cheerfull and looks awesome

here is a video of my tank, its gpot argos play sand in it. if you want to skip to full view of the ank skip to 2minutes 58 seconds.

is this the same stuff shown in your photo, http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/unipac-limpopo-black-aquarium-sand-125kg-p-2828.html. looks great and i like the idea of it not making the water cloudy if disturbed like play sand might

i googled the unipac limpopo,i realy like the look of it. should i be worried about getting sand stuck in my magnetic algae cleaner and scratching the tank? is there any godd fine black gravels

Unipac make a plain black fine gravel i believe, but i have never used it.

Sand between your algae scraper will scratch your glass, but if you're careful then you shouldn't experience any problems. It's also just as quick to give it a quick wipe when doing your waterchanges though which would be less risky if again careful.

The Taihitian (spelling?!) Moon sand gets a great review on this site, it's jet black i believe?

All depends what you want mate.

Yes that is the stuff in the link.

thanks for the info, see in the first couple of pictures you showed me of the limpopo, did you mix it with white sand aswell, it looks black and white or is it just my eyes? going to order some today i think

No mate, it's mixed already, thats just how it is. If not wanting black then i think they do one called senegal which is also very nice.

ordered the black moon sand, 36kg of it. my tank is 50x18x26, im hoping that it will be enough for good coveage.
thanks for the photos and advise.
