Can you help ID my plecos and Otos?

My fish one is a pleco. I think it is L333/L66 but it looks a bit like L204/L260/L270

Have you looked at the photos of the Hypoptopoma genus at www.planetcatfish.com?

I bought the last two "Giant Otos" from Aquajardin, which turned out to be Hypoptopoma inexspectatum (they have the unique line that runs from their snout to near the mouth).

Doesnt seem to be  from the Hypoptopoma family -_-

Bumping will not make people rush to your thread! We need time to research the plec to. Try looking on planet catfish. 2 bumps in 8 hours for an ID is silly.

270,129,199... it looks way to young to give a definitive answer... im quite sure that it isn't 333 or 66 and almost 100% sure it isn't a 260.

Right, this was sold to me as L333 and I have 3 of these babies.

I would never fully rule out 333 or many other striped hypans, however... the patterning even at a small size/age is way different to any of my bred or brought ones.

For a positive and correct ID i think youve got a while for them to grow out to completely be sure of what youve actually gotten.

i have done alot of searching for you and to begin with, the only black and white plecos i could find looked nothing like yours. Your pleco is black and white but the black bands are much wider and bigger than the white ones, on the ones i found the black and white bands were almost equal in width.

However i have good new i have finally found a pleco which looks very similar to yours. The Flash Pleco :)

Here is a link to a profile which has some useful pictures on, let me know what you think.

I hope this helps and feel free to pm or email me if you ever get suck with anything in the future :) ;) :)

Thanks for your response, I too thought the plec could be a L204 but I then again, he is only around 3 months old, so his stripes may change shape and colour in the next 6 months. For now though, I will think of him as L204 :hey:
