hi

i have a fluval 304 external filter (quite old) and would like to add another filter to run along side it

the water is always looking bitty if you know what i mean

i would like to get either the fluval 4 internal or the Eheim Aquaball 2212

what would you have?? ;)

Hi,
i cant advise on the eheim because ive not had one, they look very good,
i do have a fluval 2 plus running in my daughters tank, i must say its driving me nuts, i dont keep the polish pad in it because it blocks up and stops water flow, i clean the sponges once a week and still it runs slow, its only been running 5 months :/ , im thinking of changing it to a rena filstar iv11, they are great there is extra room for more media, ive used ceramic balls, and it blows bubbles out if you want and you can cotrol flow of water and air. i have this in my fry tank and im very happy with it :good:

thanks for your reply

i think the eheim looks good too, but not seen them going before.

ive just looked at the rena filstar iv4 and that looks ok too

i just dont know :S

why not consider an external filter????its a lot easier to look after.it all really depends on how much money you want to spend and what fish you have in your tank.eheim externals are usually very reliable, very quiet and dont leak.id get a more powerful external than you need so that if you ever get larger fish or a larger tank then the filter will still cope ok and even if you dont,a more powerful filter will need changing/cleaning less often.to give you an idea,a larger external filter may(may)need changing/cleaning as little as once ever 3-6 months depending on what/how many fish you keep.it seems like a lot of money to spend, but you'll be glad you did.ive owned an external(eheim pro 11 2028) for a year and thought it was daunting when i first got it.after putting it together and running it for a while,i was chuffed to say the least.

sorry,i dont understand????why do you want an internal????why not get a small external to go with your other external?????

i know the feeling.one 7 year old son who i pay £100 csa per week for and a 9 year old stepson who loves his fish and thinks nothing of spending £30 of my money down the lfs and a 13 year old step daughter who goes to professional dance and needs new costumes at £100 a go and £50 for exams lol.i know more than most about the cost of christmas/kids etc.
