In a few days I'm going to get some Zebra Danio babies that I will raise. First they will be in my ten gallon tank. When they grow big enough I will move them to my twenty gallon. :fish: I recently heard that danios can and will jump. I have holes in the top of my tank hoods, the biggest being 16" by 1.5". I would like to know a cheap, nice looking, and safe (So if the danios jump the won't get injured) way of blocking the holes. I also have lighting on my tanks. The actual light fixture is separated from the tank by a sheet of plastic, If they jump and hit the plastic would it be so hot it would kill them? In my ten gallon I'm pretty sure the lighting is not florescent. I want to danio-proof my tank so those cute little guys won't get hurt, and my questions are probably obvious, but I really want to be safe than sorry. Oh, one more thing, in my ten gallon, the part of the lid is really lose, should I worry about them hitting it and it opening, or is that safe. Should I just through out the old tank lid and buy one that is new? I want to do the best for my fish. Please help me.

Plastic wrap to cover the hole :good: Your current hood should be fine. If it is running an incandescent(not fluorescent) you can put in a regular energy saving spiral fluorescent. I 14watt or smaller from any home improvement store should be fine.

I have hatchet fish in one of my tanks, so I'm used to being aware of potentially jumping fish! I use the plastic condensation trays on all my tanks.

Thank you!!! Your replies are really appreciated!
