I have been waiting ages to get some decent pictures of my new plec but he/she has been a real recluse.
Yesterday I rearranged a bit of decor and ever since then the plec has been almost constantly out.
Having waited so long, it is really rewarding to get some half decent pics.
I got the plec with a tank I bought recently and it appears to be an L270 Chocolate Zebra Plec. I would say it is between 3 and four inches long.
Is this the right ID and also is there any reliable way of sexing?
Secondly, I have a male ancistrus in this tank with some white spots on him. I am wondering whether he is a common bristlenose or a starlight (to me he doesn't seem spotty enough and the spots are too small for a starlight). Could anybody suggest which type of BN he is? I would say he is about 4 inches. Also, I have a smaller common BN at about 2 inches, I am fairly sure it is a female but as it continues to grow I will obviously know for sure. If these 2 fish are different types of BN are they likely to breed in time or does this not happen?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Andy.
