Hi there,

Both photos are a bit dark, difficult to see much detail on the fish. However I think you probably have Corydoras elegans there. Problem is that colouration is quite variable in this species.

thanks for reply!

i'll maybe try the photos again.... i wondered about them myself but he/she is really quite alot darker....almost black apart from the slight silverly line detail.....do you think its possible that it really just is a darker form ???

Looks kind of like a Bronze to me too but the coloration and detail is hard to gauge, and I'm not that great at identifying some Cories. Too many species and I suspect some are the same species but different enough in coloration they get labeled a "new" species by mistake.

Hi Hels,

What pushes towards the C elegans is the body stripe (on silver) and the apparent bands in the dorsal fin, I haven't seen these characteristics in the bronze cory (C aenus) mentioned by Teelie.

If you can lay your hands on the Aqualog 'all Corydoras' you will find C elegans variants ranging from light to dark (there's at least 7 variants listed).
