Behavioral Signs; anorexia/refusal to eat, lethargy, hiding behavior, "hanging", clamped fins, loss of appetite, general constitutional signs.

Also the poo's are long white and stringy.....most of the guppies I purchased last week from my lfs ive either culled because they looked poorley or have died themselves I purchased 7 and only 3 remain healthy. One guppy female I noticed today has one of her fins half gone. Im LOST!!!! Too Many fish deseases with similar symptons.

 makes me sick that some one is selling poor stock to pet shops. Specially the one Ive bought quality stock from before. Oh Well! :/

S.O.S HELP PLEASE!!!!! Will no longer be purchasing more fish...and have quarentined what ever sick fish i have....I have a quarentine tank for some guppies who shared a tank with a host of camallanus worm...only 5 more days of treatment. Old tank gone forever and a nice new 75litre tank replaced it. Custom made so I can breed quality guppies. Obviously with time....and better stock. BTW My male guppies are thriving.

Cheers, :good:

Sounds like a lot of stuff. Worms. Fin rot. Swim bladd infection.

What are your water parameters? It sounds like this many illnesses are due to poor water quality. They are normally pretty preventable with constant water changes to give the fish clean, stable water.

Do several 20-25% water changes over the next 2 weeks, test your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels of the tank, also the levels in the tap water

Treat with melafix or protozin and once treated add some active carbon to a filter theis will remove any other untested toxins in the water.

Treat the fish to some live foods this can start a fish to feed again if they have been starving, but if the interstanal tract has gone to long with out food then it may be impossible to reopen and the fish will starve to death no matter what u try to do.

Thank you thats some sound advice...The guppies I am treating for worms are now thriving in the small medicated tank..Tomorrow is day 10 of sterazin treatment...they seem to be responding well...Was planning on leaving them in the small tank until big tank is under wraps....Guppy fry are in big tank...in maternity net, they seem happy and so do other fish now...

I have gravel filters with carbon and air pumps...plants...driftwood...ph levels are nutural and temp is 79F....as for other levels is there another kit I can buy where i can test everything? Keeping in mind Im in Sydney Australia?????? Perhaps?? :) Some of the newguppies I bought and placed in the new tank were itching against the rocks etc, so my lfs gave me a couple of tablets for parasites and itch...seems to have helped...but now my tank smells bad..could this be from the medication only? PLease help Im lost...just want a healthy tank...

BTW you post some excellent info - Ive read loads. Thx

Look for the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Master Test Kit. Amazon, PetSmart, and Dr. Foster & Smith have it online cheaper than any place will have it in store. Hopefully you can get items from one of these online retailers.
